East Hampton, New York
I flew to the East Coast in October to capture the famous fall colors. I spent days combing Long Island looking for the classic East Coast shot–powerful, vibrant, and crisp. This composition spoke to me; almost as if the power and presence of old times was playing out in front of me to create this dramatic effect. Low clouds provided the ideal soft lighting to highlight the subtle but colorful tones of the leaves decorating the ground. After looking more closely at the shot, I discovered a deer standing in the bushes. When the goal is to capture a mood and a feeling, you look for places like this, that provide sensory overload with the winds, the sounds, the colors, and the crispness of the air. One look at this shot, and it’s almost as if I’m standing there again.
