This elevated area of the Rockies is so full of thick forestry that during autumn it provides such an intense collection of colors. My vision was to capture the true essence of the season before the window of time closed on me and winter rolled in. When I came upon the site, I just gasped. All the tones of fall were beautifully represented, with a vibrant grouping of red leaves that provided a rich burst of energy at the forefront of it all. The brush at my feet had still somehow managed to stay very green and vital, as if summer and fall had intersected all at once right before me. I framed the entire scene, incorporating all the bright yellow and orange tones in the background. Finally, the sun peeked through the trees – like a gleaming jewel – giving me the right amount of light to reveal Mother Nature’s perfect autumn palette.
