Floating lilies evoke a certain emotion; there’s something really Zen and relaxing about them. This composition was very simple, yet very difficult. I needed all the lilies blooming on a still, overcast day. After searching Maui for days looking for the perfect shot, I stumbled upon this remote pond. It was just right. Composition was critical. At this location, I needed a specific early morning light to enhance the shot and give it that special element. The panoramic format added an additional dimension. After hours of tedious shooting, waiting and compositing, all the elements finally came together through my lens. I felt a calm connection with Mother Nature as I pressed the shutter. Photography is my form of meditation.
