Portland Head Lighthouse, Maine
Lighthouses are the guardians of the ocean, radiating warm, special energy. I headed out in early dawn to the edge of the cliffs at Cape Elizabeth, watching the lighthouse cast its magical beam over the ocean. The Atlantic has such a distinctive smell and combined with the crashing ocean really made this scene unforgettable. I set up my camera watching the orange glow on the right hand side of the frame, balancing this shot. As the pinks really kicked in, I took a series of exposures, and selected this frame for the galleries. The sun rays over the water added unique perspective and depth to the image. It was a magical morning that I hope I captured on film.
