Early one morning I was traveling the back roads of Minnesota and came across this haunting vision. Like eerie living scarecrows these skeletal trees stand, vigilantly protecting their field of maize. I was struck by the incredible mood of the scene - there was an air of expectancy like something was about to happen. The weak sunlight filtering through the fog provided a beautiful subtle lighting, and I captured the delicate simplicity of the scene, which resulted in a surprisingly powerful image.
