There is something fascinating about a field of sunflowers. They just make you happy. Although there are thousands of acres of sunflowers, getting that cracker shot was bloody hard work. I had been here for over a week and had nothing but clear sunny skies - a nightmare for shooting moody pics. In fact, there was an actual drought. I knew things had to change. Finally, on day eight the air felt different. I had Mother Nature on my side. Clouds gathered on the horizon and I scrambled to the top of a bale of hay to get that bird’s eye view. I was afraid I wasn’t going to get the shot because of the winds that had been gusting all day. Finally the wind died down right at the perfect moment. The field stood still. It was magical. I pressed the shutter and I knew it was right.
