Late one afternoon I shot this image of an Australian icon against a brilliant azure sky. Noticing the incredible sunlit sheen on the silhouette, I decided to switch to a black and white film to enhance the graphic, linear composition. The monochrome format really brings out the burnished texture of the tiles and the sails seem suspended in a blackened sky. I always strive to view the landscape with new eyes and this shot is a perfect example of just how different a scene can be portrayed if you look that little bit further in.
