I always try to look at the deeper picture rather than the obvious image on the surface. I spent hours shooting the playing shadows of the snow over the birch trees. Using a long lens, I zoomed into the scene and a snow mound in the foreground added a nice soft flow to the shadows. It was a delicate simple shot, but bloody hard to get this frame–I knew when I had captured the mood.
