Canyonlands, Utah
The daylight had been harsh all day but when twilight came I could see the shot I wanted. The softer light gave the scene a painterly feel. I tried shooting from different angles but I liked the way the lone tree curved from this perspective. It almost looks like it’s been draped there. The snow patches added a nice contrast and gave the shot another dimension. Although this photograph conveys simplicity, often simplicity is the hardest thing to shoot. But it can also be extremely powerful. I feel I captured that here and hope you can feel that power and purity when you look at this photograph.
