There is a critical, narrow window of time to shoot the crossover from fall to winter. Sometimes it can only be a day. I waited a few days for an overnight storm, as I wanted to capture the first snow. As I hiked the Aspen peaks, this composition drew me in. It was key and I set up shooting straight into the sun. I knew the backlighting would be critical – giving the shot the depth I strive for. The electric blue sky added to the rainbow of stunning colors in the Aspen forest. The scene was silent and perfect. I was blown away by the transition of colors  – two seasons in one shot. Being at one with the elements is so powerful, I stood there in total awe. I’ll never forget this moment.
