As I was on my way to Hana to shoot the waterfalls I noticed a splash of color in the distance. I pulled over in the next turnout and grabbed my gear. There had been a fresh shower of rain, which painted a fresh coat natural gloss over the trees. It was like standing inside an oil painting.

I hiked through this fantasy land looking for the perfect angle. I wanted to show colour, composition, strength and depth. As I loaded my camera with film the rainy skies were cracked slightly with a break in the clouds, with diffused lighting adding god’s touch to this masterpiece.

I pressed the shutter for one second and felt special at this time. The resulting image really looks like a painting, which is what I strive for.
