Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
I knew there was a very narrow window of opportunity for Mother Nature to peak with the meeting of the two seasons of fall and winter. I watched this location for days with glowing fall colors, but there had been no sign of snow on the majestic mountains beyond and I prayed for a storm. Late on the seventh day I noticed clouds darken and begin to swirl around the sky–this was it.
The next morning I set the alarm early and woke to an eerie silence. As I opened the back door of my camper I felt fresh snow against my face like a kiss from the skies–it was a feeling I’ll never forget. I put the truck in 4wd and headed for Oxbow Bend, and as the day emerged in front of me my whole body tingled as I saw the Tetons under a blanket of white! It had turned from fall to winter in one night. The early morning light rose like a golden curtain as I framed this image, and as I pressed the shutter it felt awesome to capture this epic landscape.
