Maroon Bells, Colorado
An incredible transformation took place between Tuesday and Wednesday. I awoke early and found snow falling heavily. Luckily, the roads were still passable, so I rushed back to the lake. Clouds were swirling around the mountaintops and the snow was fluffy powder. I set up and shot like mad for an hour straight, lost in the sheer beauty before me. Composing a vertical shot is more difficult than a horizontal one. I chose this amazing shot because everything came together perfectly. The detail of fresh snowfall on the foreground rocks balance the shot, inviting the viewer into the spectacle.
