Palm Cove just north of Cairns is an idyllic setting for the classic beach sunrise shot through a silhouette of palm trees. I know the area really well, and knew the composition I wanted including just the right amount of palms in the frame without creating too much distraction. I had arrived well before dawn and had a while to just sit and enjoy the solitude and peacefulness of the deserted beach. As the sun rose over the horizon, I had a just a few precious moments when the sunrise really kicked in and the light was perfect to get my shot. I took my chances and was not disappointed–this shot really portrays the incredible aura of serenity that I experienced at this beautiful place.
