This majestic city had to be captured in grandeur. No second thoughts about it. My biggest challenge is always where – the location had to be epic. My assistant and I spent weeks, day after day, searching the entire city for the angle that I intended. It was no joke. Being down at street level utilizing the perfection that I needed to shoot from. What made it even more of a challenge was the fact that I wanted a unique viewpoint, a perspective that was unique to the city. Talk about bloody pressure on myself.
I knew it was there and I couldn’t find it. Down at street level, I was just getting lost I reversed my thinking and started at the top I made some calls to a high level banker and was blown away at the connection. This was the bloke I needed to get me to the roof top. Security was high. We met in the lobby at 5am escorted up by the head security guard. Walking out of the elevator I was blown away. What a vision, I had goosebumps on goosebumps. I saw color starting to move in on the horizon and set up like a wild man. I panned the camera, the sky just roared to life within minutes. The magical glow made this amazing skyline.
I was stunned. The moment was epic. The clouds disappeared as soon as they came. The window of opportunity was there. What a rush. When you look at the city from up here its like being up in the sky with the birds, a magical feeling. It’s what I strive for in photography.
