Fraser Island, Australia
Fraser Island has an intriguing, remote feel to it. It is a huge sand island, sprinkled with fresh water and sand dunes. I had spent over 2 weeks exploring the entire island. It was a major hike into this section of extremely isolated dunes, and I set off at daybreak. Late afternoon light was critical for the shot and the higher up I hiked, the perspective constantly changed. Right at twilight I set up at a low angle, my camera only inches off the sand. I watched the light dance over the dunes, and took a series of shots in the golden light. When you look at this shot, I hope you can feel the solitude and tranquility I felt at the time.
