Anyone familiar with my work knows that I really appreciate simplicity. It isn’t always easy to capture but when you do, it has great power. By being so minimal, this composition has enormous impact. Amazing! It was actually snowing lightly when I took this photograph and you can see the wind-blown snow contrasted against the cabin. There’s something about fresh snow that completely changes the feel of a place. It’s a sense of purity and that’s what I wanted to capture in my shot. It was incredibly quiet as I focused my camera and I can remember the light snowflakes landing on my face. I squeezed the shutter on a one-second exposure and I had it! Can’t you just imagine yourself in that shack, away from the world, at peace in nature? I know that’s how this image always makes me feel.
