Manhattan, New York
Completed in 1902 and known for being one of the first skyscrapers in the city, the Flatiron Building (also known as the Fuller Building) has been an iconic symbol of New York City since its opening. For this reason, and because of its great history, I knew the composition had to emphasize the strength and character of the structure. Given that this building is located at one of the busiest intersections in the world, I had to beat the crowds in order to capture the image right as the sun was about to rise. The dim lighting and long exposure created the soft shading and tone that I was looking for, while still picking up every detail of the intricate molding of the façade. It was a true honor to pay tribute to this legendary building – a timeless shot to celebrate its strength and rich history.
