This shot has eluded me for years. I have seen the lilies in my mind combined with the water colors but never been able to capture it on film. It was either lilies and no color or color reflections and no lilies! Persistence finally paid off.
After days of hiking around lakes and ponds, this scene finally revealed itself. The color combination was peaking and could only be found this certain time of year. The trees reflected their magical colors with their fall leaves, providing the perfect backlighting for this scene. I selected a long lens and when I looked through the camera, this image looked like a dream. As I pressed the shutter, I knew I finally nailed the shot!
Mother nature set the perfect scene- all I had to do was find it – and simply capture it! I felt so special just being there, witnessing this sublime moment. It truly was an impression.
