Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee
I had made the pilgrimage from Vegas to the East Coast for the fall. Week after week, I think I shot every colored tree in the east! I wanted something different and less obvious to capture the fall for my galleries. I knew I wanted a stream with colored leaves... It took me ages and forest after forest, chasing the perfect shot. This time I knew I had it and the conditions were perfect: overcast soft light, and a fresh shower of rain to crank up the color of the leaves. The mossy rocks lifted the forest and a long exposure gave the stream a painterly feel. I pressed the shutter and felt the whole 15 seconds soak up the vision. It really was magic.
