I had spent a couple weeks on Kauai and was blown away by the diversity, beauty and wilderness. Especially the Na Pali coast - these impressive, powerful mountains rising straight out of turquoise waters. I wanted to capture this special moment so I camped out overnight and set the alarm for early in the morning. As I walked barefoot along the beach, feeling the soft sand through my toes in total darkness I saw the sky colour. I was loaded with adrenaline as I searched for the spot to shoot from. I chose a leading line straight down the beach and freaked as I saw the sky explode into colour. The cliffs lit up like a painting - the whole scene only lasted a few seconds. I pressed the shutter and felt a rush through my whole body – it’s moments like these I live for.
