Manhattan, New York
I wanted to shoot NYC from a totally different perspective. It wasn’t easy, but I was up for the challenge. The Manhattan Bridge is an architectural masterpiece, even from underneath. Every nut, bolt and girder was intricately engineered - a work of art. Setting up with a wide angle lens directly centered beneath the bridge gave the shot a radical perspective and lined dimension that is rarely seen. To keep the attention on the bridge, I deliberately risked all and really overexposed the city in the background. It worked. The bridge popped and created a scene of calmness and strength - everything I wanted to achieve. When you look at this image, you can feel the power and beauty of the bridge - a tribute to our architectural ancestors.
