Zion National Park, Utah
Nature’s abstracts are elusive, emotive and powerful! The less there is, the more there is to see and to open your interpretation of life. I spent a week in Zion in mid December during record rainfalls. So heavy, in fact, that the park was eventually closed. It rained constantly for a week and hundreds of waterfalls cascaded down the impressive colored cliffs. I hiked the park and captured as many as I could. Shooting was difficult in the pouring rain and it ruined a lot of my shots as the blurred drops caused a milky pattern through the exposure. I finally got a break and focused on a small but intricate waterfall. The long exposure looks like twisted silk folded over the ochre rocks. Simplicity and power in nature. I love it.
