Nova Scotia, Canada
This classic lighthouse stands steadfast as the protector of the rocky coastline on which the tiny but picturesque village of Peggy’s Cove is set. I shot it from pretty much every angle I could find over a few days, and really got a feel for the location. What I love most about photography is that a scene can change in an instant and there is always a new way of looking at things. On my last evening in the Cove, I once again set up my tripod on the rocky platform beneath the lighthouse. As the sky darkened and the sunset intensified I noticed the perfect reflection in the tidal pool in the foreground. To me, this image is very sculptural - all soft curves and hidden tones, hues and textures. It has become one of my all time favourites.
