Fairbanks, Alaska
While preparing our small Cessna plane in the hanger at Fairbanks Airport to fly past the Arctic Circle to Bettles, I saw the old classic DC-3’s in the distance. I was drawn to them like a magnet. Just such classic - works of art, hidden by a cloak of fresh snow.
Early morning clouds and soft low light provided the perfect lighting to shoot these sleeping giants. I took many different shots and different angles – but selected this frame for the gallery as it captured the mood of the whole scene. Aviation history right here. I love the contrast of the vivid colors against the virgin snow. Love it.
