The elegance and charm of fall has always drawn me in. To zone in and capture this magic is a true challenge. The intricacy and beautiful color palette of this Japanese Maple expressed all the qualities of nature I was searching for. I needed to wait for perfect stillness to press the shutter. The vertical format is extremely challenging but worth the results. I carefully composed the shot – it’s not the way we typically look at a tree. Paying critical attention to detail drew my eye into the shot – and selecting the perfect aperture between soft and hard focus gave the shot the 3D dimension that I strive for. This tree represents a state of Zen that I’m constantly striving for.
