Mykonos, Greece
Mykonos is the most visited of the Greek Islands, and after three days of constant hustle and bustle, I really needed to escape. I had explored the island by moped, and so one evening returned to this place where I felt I could regain some calm. This tiny stone church is carved right into the cliff, and I was stunned to find how the late afternoon light had altered the scene below me. I could still hear the hum of activity from the town, but the softening light played out a completely different feel. I saw the opportunity for a more unusual vertical take, and in a race against the approaching dusk, I captured this image with the sun brushing past the cross and illuminating the dazzling red roof of the church.
