San Francisco, California
I was shooting around the Bay at sunset when I came across this classic pier lined with a row of antique lamps. I sat and waited out the crowds of people and as night began to fall and a chilly wind blew in, soon it was all but deserted. In the near darkness the scene took on an eerie feeling and I knew that if I worked fast I could capture a really special image. I shot off several rolls of film from many different angles but this is the one I loved. The image of the huge modern day structure looming behind the old wooden jetty makes for a strong composition.
