Jackson Hole, Wyoming
I had spent over a week in the chill of mid-winter shooting the Grand Teton in Wyoming. As I was trudging back through waist-deep snow loaded up with gear, the simplicity of this scene caught my eye. The naked tree looked like a marble reaching out to the sky, and the fall moon gave the scene an eerie feel to it. I knew I was cutting it fine with daylight to navigate my way back to the truck, but knew I had to get this shot. I named it Winter Mood.
