Yosemite National Park, California
After spending a week shooting the awesome beauty of Yosemite, I was taking some time out snowboarding at nearby Badger Pass. By late afternoon, I noticed a front coming in towards the Park, and knowing that this could make for some great moody images, I grabbed my camera and raced back to Inspiration Point. I arrived to an extremely turbulent atmosphere–light scattering throughout the valley and bouncing randomly off the opposing rock walls. The effect was incredible–depending on the direction of the light, every crack and crevice was enhanced and seconds later was in complete shadow. I shot off roll after roll of film at different exposures, not knowing quite what to expect. The results were better than I had imagined–this image perfectly captures the moodiness and restlessness of the afternoon.
