Davenport, California
Gaining access to this shot was a bloody nightmare. It was nothing like I thought. Treacherous cliffs and pounding surf made this shot virtually inaccessible. I was starting to freak out. I had to get it. I studied the low and high tides and had to climb down a radical 90 degree cliff in pitch black. For safety I grabbed a ten dollar rope from the local hardware store. It was better than nothing. It all paid off when you look at this image. Early morning light and a long exposure gave the image a painterly feel. The four remaining concrete pillars from the pier gave this image a timeless feel.
